On August 23, 2022, it was our great honour and pleasure🤍 to welcome Andrew Micklefield, MLA for Rossmere, to visit our summer day camp💛☀️ KIFR❤️

Our kids and youth were able to have a connection and interaction with him by introducing themselves and having small conversations.

Last week, our two locations went on a fun field trip to the Manitoba Musuem, they had an hour long film at the planetarium talking about the survival of Dinosaurs, then we all had lunch, and after that we were able to spend an hour at the science lab, learning about different science experiments and having fun.

It was a successful trip❤☀️

On Monday, August 1st, our Douglas staff and volun

On Monday, August 1st, our Douglas staff and volunteers planned a trip to St.Malo 💛 Manitoba on their day off. They spent the whole day there doing so many different activities; including music and dabkeh, going on a hike to find the falls, rented some water equipments and played soccer ⚽️.

It was an amazing day for all of them to get closer and be more connected while creating memories ☀️❤

This summer we're spreading all the fun 🧡at KIFR summer day camp☀️ 2022 by creating new ideas in our classes (sport, craft, language and culture)

Some of activities that we've done in those classes include, learning about the Ukrainians history with a group of Ukrainian kids, playing basketball, soccer and doing some competitions🏆 at sport class, making paper flowers, painting, 🎨drawing, dance and watching movies in several languages.

Friday was the last day for our youth. In the last

Friday was the last day for our youth. In the last two months, we have been participating in a Human Rights workshop led by Jacee and Magi.😊

During the workshop, we learned about various topics including mental health and self esteem, children's rights, refugee rights, Indigenous people, racial discrimination, LGBTQ+, women's rights and advocacy & activism. ✌️

In our last day, we divided as a groups to work on last projects of this workshop.
It went great and helpful and we shared our opinions and ideas🌻.
We worked on posters as our long term projects.

Thank you all for coming and participating and for being a part of this worksho💪.

Yesterday was the last day at the program for the children!! We had lots of fun performing our dances, playing games and handing out candies🍬🍭and gifts🎁. It was great summer for our community🌎. Thanks to all our staff, volunteers and families who without them our summer would not be as fun.🥳

On Friday Aug 20th we had the great opportunity to have @steven.greyeyes as a guest speaker in our summer day camp 2021. We are privileged to learn about Spirit and Intent of the Treaties by the Treaty Relations Commission of MB.

We acknowledge that it is our responsibility as newcomer youth to educate ourselves and respect the Treaties that were made on these territories and acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past and dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in spirit of reconciliation. Thank you Steven, we appreciate you 🤍.

Last week, we had a very happy week by doing new activities in all of our classes at the KIFR summer day camp 2021!!! ☀️

We learned about different cultures! And how to say “thank you” in multiple languages: English, Arabic, Kurdish, Turkish and French 🙏

We also made different crafts and we did some paintings and drawings 🎨

We learned about the Environment! And what actions can we take to save our planet 🌎

It was an amazing week filled of lots of activities, dancings, laughters, and fun☺️

Last week we did lots of fun activities in our culture and craft classes!!!

The children learned about part of the Indigenous cultures including the significant meaning behind the dreamcatcher 🧡

We also learned about refugee rights and the elimination of racial discrimination while doing different activities to acknowledge our differences that make us stronger 💪

We also talked about children rights through learning about Every Child Matters movement! We did very pretty colourful cards 🎴

It was a great week filled with fun and knowledge!
